I think it’s best that we all admit we each have “a little crazy” in us!

Hey you, the guy who walked into the elevator this morning on Wilshire Blvd. Dude, you’re wearing way too much cologne. I shouldn’t have to gasp, hold my breath or try not to vomit. Seriously, how does this happen? Two, maybe three sprays should be enough. When, where, how does a man think soaking in cologne is what women want? All men, listen up, if you do wear cologne it should be soft and sexy. Do you get what that means? Myself and women around the world will thank you.
Love you, mean it,
-Loren

Ugh, to post or not to post on Facebook? Seriously…
I had an odd conversation with a friend today who called to ask me to delete something I posted on their Facebook page which referenced something cute about them and their significant other. They’ve been a couple for several years and the first thought when I got the call was “OMG, did you break up? Did something happen?” I was seriously concerned. “No” they said, stating that their significant did not like to be “tagged” in posts… Oh...???? I, of course deleted the post immediately. I felt horrible and like I did something terribly wrong and honestly thought what I had posted was cute and sweet. How could someone not like something cute and sweet? What are the rules? How do we know what will offend and what won’t?

Dear Loren, our most distinguished Yenta,
What are your five top Los Angeles restaurants for a great, healthy
breakfast? I’ve been on a quest to find at least five. My two favorite are
“A Votre Sante” and “Chateau Marmont.” I am new to LA as I have lived here
about a year. There has to be a few more that are excellent?
Warmest regards,
~Carl

Just cause friends need to share….
1) The Mophie iPhone Case. It’s a case with a built in battery. With my crazy schedule and all the running around I do, my mophie is a lifesaver. The extra battery is built right into the case.
2) It’s truly a rare occurrence when I find a drugstore brand lipgloss that I really like. I’m currently obsessed with Revlon’s ColorBurst Lip Butter in Cherry Tart and Peach Parfait. The Cherry Tart is a beautiful, easy red with just the right pop of color. The Peach Parfait is like a perfect nude with a hint of coral and sparkle. The butters feel really smooth and the color can be very sheer or darker depending on how much you put on. Honestly, these colors will look good on everyone!
3) My silver necklace from Moira K. Lime Jewelry. I met Jewelry Designer Katie Lime at the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco earlier this summer. Her pieces are elegant and pretty and I’m in love with my necklace!
4) The App “PicFrame”. Take your instagram and digital photos and turn them into a multiple photo collage that you can use on all your digital media platforms. Very Cool!
5) Govino, go anywhere wine classes. They are plastic wine glasses but do not look or feel like the ordinary plastic cup. The design is fantastic; your friends will be impressed. I’ve used them several times this summer at outdoor concerts and movie screenings. The Best!

This week I went to check out one of the J.A.M. sessions that happen Monday nights at the Ford Amphitheater. These musical events started in 2008 and are supported by a grant from the James Irvine Foundation. This past Monday was the Bluegrass jam night. I arrived at 7 pm to find musicians of all levels meeting up, jamming and forming little groups. It was great to see men/women and young/old with their mandolins, ukuleles, guitars and even a few upright bases. After creating their play lists, the groups signed up to perform onstage at 8 pm.
One memorable group was The Shemanski Family. This family started playing together last year and they recently cut their first album. I mean c’mon, remember the Partridges?! You can’t beat a family band – love it! https://www.facebook.com/allstringsattachedfamily
It was such a great evening. Outdoors, great location, music, free!! You really must go – there is a snack bar there, but go early with friends and picnic at one the tables set up on the campus. Even the parking is free!
Here is a list of upcoming J.A.M. Sessions at the Ford Amphitheater:
Lindy Hop Dance - Monday, August 6 @ 7PM
Mariachi Jam - Monday, August 13 @ 7PM
Son Jarócho Folklorico Dance - Monday, August 20 @ 7PM
Samba Reggae Dance Party! - Monday, August 27 @ 7PM
A Taste of Hawaii: Hula and Ukulele - Monday, September 10 @ 7PM
West African Dance - Monday, September 17 @ 7PM
Drum Circle - Monday September 24 @ 7PM
***Check their website for some other J.A.M. locations around LA including the Valley, Santa Clarita and others…

NOT! But I kinda expect it to be after watching way too many episodes of Glee, Smash and re-runs of Grease.
A musical of my life might include a song like this:
(Set to I Feel Pretty from Westside Story)
I love shopping, oh, lots of shopping
I like shopping and buying a ton
And I pity, any girl who isn’t me, today
I buy shoes, oh, lots of shoes
It’s alarming how much I buy
And so in debt
That I can hardly believe it’s real
See that credit card bill in the mail?
How many can there be?
One from Gap
One from Fry’s
One from Saks
One from Tax!
I feel broke, oh, so broke

Alright, so I own the iPhone 3GS and I recently dropped it and cracked the screen. Ya, bummer… I passed on buying the latest iPhone4S cause I really hoped it was going to be the iPhone5 - new design, something cool and exciting and I didn’t think it was all that. Now, I’m starting to get anxious. I’m not sure if I should still hold out for the iPhone5, rumored to come in October - or just give in and buy the 4S?! I just know that sometime soon they will officially announce a an Apple Disorder from people who buy their products only to find out a newer version launches a month later. Think it will be called Applemania.

It’s no longer January 1st. So how long do we need to say Happy New Year to people? I hear it everywhere I go, and it’s written in every email I receive. I mean it’s nice and all, but I’m kinda over it.

Third Annual Yenta Report Vision Board Party!! Woo Hoo!!!
2012 is upon us. Most of the time, life passes by us so quickly we hardly take the opportunity to think about what we want from the coming year. And if we don’t know what we want, how will we ever attain it?
Creating a Vision Board is a fun way to create a visual presentation of the things you want to have, be, or do in the future using a collage of images, pictures and affirmations. Once you’re done, not only will you have a hope-fueled game plan, you’ll also have a great visual tool for making sure you stay on track!
All are welcome (yes, girls and guys!) so make sure to invite friends! Just bring along a sense of inspiration and we’ll provide everything else including supplies, drinks and things to nibble on!! (Note: if you have extra magazines or personal photos you want to use – feel free to bring them along!!)
Saturday, January 21st 5 pm – 9 pm $40 (materials included!)
at Hands on Third 8377 W. 3rd St at Orlando Ave. East of La Cienega Blvd. There is street parking or valet on W. 3rd St.
Testimonials:
Thanks to Loren and her Vision Board Workshop, in the past year I’ve run a marathon and got engaged. This Yenta knows what she’s doing!!
- Rachael K., Santa Monica, CA
Putting together my Vision Board last year was both fun and therapeutic. Most of my wishes came through plus I had great conversations while making it and even made some new friends. In all, a fun night that could make your wishes for the New Year really happen. A great way to start off the year!
- Emma B., Los Angeles, CA
I took the Yenta Vision Board Workshop, and I can’t believe that it worked! I was a skeptic, but after her class, I’m ready to sign up again for more adventure. I put photos of New York and Australia on my Vision Board guess where I went?! The class was so fun with lots of great people, and laughs.
- Gary P. West Hollywood, CA
Well, what are you waiting for??? Sign up now!
