Jeremy Weinglass began his musical studies at the age of seven at Nueva Learning Center on a Yehudi Menuhin Scholarship for piano. As an original member of the Ragazzi Peninsula Boys' Chorus, and while attending advanced piano and theory classes at the Conservatory of Music in San Francisco, Jeremy was exposed very early on to a wide spectrum of musical education.

In 2001, Jeremy moved to Los Angeles to pursue his musical aspirations. Most recently, he was a resident pianist at the Beverly Hilton for nearly four years. How cool?!? Oh, the stories he must have! Although he plays all kinds of music from classical to rock, his greatest passion is writing and performing his own music. Things have gotten quite challenging in the past year as all of the hotels and restaurants are cutting costs. He is staying busy with various projects including finishing his “Piano/Violin Odyssey: A Journey Though the Months of the Year.” Oh yeah, this gifted musician is also a HUGE Laker fan!

You can catch Jeremy at some upcoming shows: First, he is putting together a whole new concert with violinist Chris Woods and singer Natalie Wilde on Friday, September 25 at Nic's in Beverly Hills (http://www.nicsbeverlyhills.com). Then, Jeremy will be performing in the Indie Thursday Music Showcase at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood on Thursday, October 1!! (http://www.renaissancehollywood.com)

Your favorite place in LA to have a cocktail?
Nic’s Martini Lounge in Beverly Hills. They have a huge list of specialty martinis and every one that I’ve tried so far has been dangerously delicious!

Your favorite LA place for bargain shopping?
I’m pretty tall (6’7”), so I can’t shop at vintage stores because nothing fits. So, my favorite place where I can actually find some things in my size (including good shoes – size 15) and at a good price is Nordstrom Rac

You could change one thing about LA - what would it be?
An awesome public transportation system that links the whole metropolis with ease!!

You’ve always wanted to go to this LA spot – but just haven’t made it there yet?
To see Jon Brion’s show at the Largo. It is supposed to be a phenomenal show and I love seeing musicians that inspire and motivate me.

Your favorite LA extravagance?
These days, just going out to dinner is an extravagance. But, a concert at the Hollywood Bowl is always a great way to spend an evening.

Your favorite neighborhood haunt?
Ivan Kane’s Café Was. It’s got a fun vibe and they have a rotating piano in the middle of the restaurant. In fact, it looks like I will be playing there very soon!!

Your favorite local getaway?
Well, this is a tough one. I enjoy going up to Santa Barbara for various reasons including bringing back memories of my college days. Palm Springs is great too; lots of nice resorts out there. Then again, my wife and I got married in Temecula and we really enjoyed visiting the wineries there. Actually, I wrote a song called “Getaway” which is on my Dreams album and is about this very subject. The inspiration for the song was based on the anticipation for a trip to Ojai with an ex-girlfriend. Like I said, this is a tough one because there are so many great options within a reasonably short drive from LA!

Your favorite place for cheap eats?
When we lived on the Westside, my wife and I used to go to Hurry Curry on Venice Blvd. for the best deal in town when we were craving a good Indian dinner. They’ve raised their prices a bit lately, but it is still an amazing deal. You can get a totally filling dinner for two for $16. Now that we live in Hollywood, we have been exploring new restaurants. We recently found the best deal for a great sushi dinner: Crazy Rock N Sushi on Santa Monica Blvd. (http://www.crazyrocknsushi.com) Most of the rolls are $3-$4! The sake and beer are just $2 for the small size, which incidentally, is a better bang for the buck than the large size. We went all out on food and drinks and our bill was around $50 including tax and tip!

You always take out of town guests to this spot?
Well, that of course depends on who is visiting, but 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica is a good bet for pretty much anyone coming to visit. You’ve got restaurants, shopping, movies, street performers, and the beach all in one spot. And, if they are up for a good work out, I might take them to my favorite yoga class at Power Yoga with Bryan Kest.

You're most connected to this charity or your last volunteer experience?
Most recently, I volunteered to answer phones during the KCRW pledge drive. I love KCRW – it is by far the best radio station in LA. However, I will always feel the most connected to the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization because I was involved with them as a child. My big brother, Scott, had and still does have a huge impact on my life
