Tracy Bobbitt

Not only is Tracy Bobbitt a Hollywood Mom, but she is an all-around awesome person with a killer smile!! Born in Washington D.C., raised in Dana Point and Mission Viejo (South Orange County, just like the Bravo “Housewives” show), she then attended college in North Carolina, and upon graduating landed in Los Angeles to start her life as a grown-up.
In the 1990s, Tracy worked in film production (Pleasantville, Never Been Kissed, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle) and for Sandra Bullock's Fortis Films. She married award-winning property master Russell Bobbitt in 1995, and a few years later gave birth to their daughter Jordan, who inspired her next venture.
A natural entrepreneur, she launched Crib Rock® brand Couture and Decor, a line of clothing and decor that transformed classic nursery rhyme characters into rap, rock and hip-hop stars on tour. That was prior to the wave of baby t-shirt companies that eventually inundated the market. And soon after, she launched HollywoodMomBlog.com. Through her Hollywood Mom Blog, Tracy now acts as a product expert/reviewer and brand ambassador for several well-known companies, including Disney on Ice and Mott's Apple Juice & Applesauce. She also delves back into interviewing celebrities and industry insiders ('80s Pop Princess Debbie Gibson's interview will be posted soon!)
Her daughter is featured in the upcoming Warner Brothers’ movie The Hangover (in theaters June 5, 2009) -- and so is her Crib Rock brand’s Big Foot Onesie. Being the smarty that she is, Tracy realized the costume designer would be looking for clothing for the baby character, so all her talents and experience kicked into high gear. Tracy made Crib Rock as desirable as possible for consideration in the choices of the baby's wardrobe, and was elated when Crib Rock's Big Foot Onesie was selected. Crib Rock, her children's brand, will soon re-launch as Crib Rock the Product Placement House.
Your favorite place in LA to have a cocktail?
On Friday and Saturday nights during the summer you can't beat the Malibu Family Wines tasting room at Saddlerock Ranch. Bring a picnic basket, the kids, and enjoy the live music. Bring a sweater or jacket, Malibu gets chilly in the evening. Full disclosure: it's owned by our friends Lisa and Ronnie Semler but I'd go regardless.
Your favorite LA place for bargain shopping?
Sample sales! The last Friday of the month all the sales reps open up downtown at the mart and let the public shop at very discounted rates in the showrooms for first quality, current season merchandise. It's a bargain hunter's paradise! When you're finished, take a quick walk through Santee Alley. There's always a bargain waiting there.
You could change one thing about LA - what would it be?
It's cliche but the traffic is awful. So what to change? Creating more efficient freeways, extended HOV lanes. Anything to eliminate the rush hour blues.
You’ve always wanted to go to this LA spot – but just haven’t made it there yet?
I love lounges and restaurants with views. I haven't been to the Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica or West Restaurant at the top of Hotel Angeleno. I also want to see The Watts Towers in South Central. I've lived in Los Angeles for almost 2 decades - you'd think I would have been there by now.
Your favorite LA extravagance?
A great dinner is one extravagance - NOBU in Malibu, Brandywine in Woodland Hills, Cafe La Boheme in West Hollywood, Saddle Peak Lodge in Monte Nido, Woo Lae Oak in Beverly Hills. Yes, I like food. My other extravagance is a spa day at Ultimate Skin in Calabasas or the old, stand-by Burke Williams. For BW, the Santa Monica location is my favorite.
Your favorite neighborhood haunt?
Carnival in Sherman Oaks - the most amazing chicken kabobs, tahini, humus, and salad. Not exactly “my neighborhood” but we manage to end up at least once a month. They even catered my baby shower. I really like their food and it's well-priced.
Your favorite local getaway?
Cheshire Cat B&B in Santa Barbara. We were in Santa Barbara just two weeks ago and my friend convinced me to stay in neighboring Montecito instead. It may be my new favorite.
Your favorite place for cheap eats?
Poquito Mas. Fresh, clean Mexican food.
You always take out of town guests to this spot?
The Venice Beach boardwalk. There's so much visual stimulation. As you walk along the shoreline there are sidewalk performers, street vendors, burning incense, sand castles, tattoo parlors, weight lifters, skateboarders, roller bladers, hippies, and the Pacific Ocean. It's a uniquely Southern California experience.
You're most connected to this charity or your last volunteer experience?
Pediatric Epilepsy Program UCLA and family friend Greg Grunberg's charity effort Talk About It. It’s a star-studded website created to educate the world about seizures and epilepsy on behalf of the 50 million people around the globe who are coping with the condition. TalkAboutIt.org features television, film and music celebrities talking about epilepsy awareness and proper first-aid for seizures.
