Kosher salami, shopping and quick getaway

Ask the Yenta

“Dear Yenta, I am wracking my brain trying to find a nice getaway location for my 12-year-old daughter and me for Labor Day. Must be within a two-hour drive time and have nice shopping. And it can’t be Palm Springs, San Diego or Santa Barbara.

Have you thought about Ventura Beach?  THEN you can hit the Camarillo Outlets on the way!  Ooohhhhh…

“The city’s historic downtown district is picturesque and entertaining with numerous boutiques, antique shops (Ventura is home to more than 125 antique dealers), outdoor cafés, restaurants and art galleries. Meanwhile, other outdoor activities, such as biking on the town’s 13-mile coastal trail or hiking at the Channel Islands National Park – located a mere 14 miles offshore – tempt the true outdoor enthusiasts. Casual surf wear is welcome almost anywhere you go in town, so hang loose and head for the beach in Ventura.”

“Dear Yenta, On the east coast and Midwest, it’s pretty easy to find ‘Salami Sticks’ sold at the delis. In case you don’t know, salami sticks are kind of like a cross between salami and beef jerky. They look like a long thick pencil. I have yet to find these in a deli in Los Angeles. Is there any place in LA that sells deli-quality KOSHER salami sticks?”

You got it!!!
